Laksa nyonya

Laksa is my favourite either nyonya or johor. Its easy to do when you have all the ingredients in hand.

Things you need to blend or grind

big onions
garlic
serai
ginger
lengkuas
buah keras
serbuk kunyit
cili boh

udang kering

I use 2 packets of kara santan so the gravy will be thick.

Tumis the grinded ingredients with a bit of oil sampai pecah minyak add in coconut milk and let it boil for a while before adding 4 bowls of water (or suit yourself) try not to make it too watery.

When its boiling add the taupok and switch off the fire....don't want the taupok to overcook as it will get too soft.

Add salt to taste.

You'll need laksa mee and taugeh .... wash and scald with boiling water and drain.

Garnish with boiled eggs, fish cake, prawns and daun kesum/laksa leaves.

a spoonful of cili to make it hotter ..... my cili is just of cili boh fried with oil and a pinch of salt.

A bowl of nyonya laksa .... just the right texture and gravy ... so sedap kan?

till my nest recipe......

Cili Prawns / Sambal Udang

Prawns is my favourite after crabs .... yes I know its high in cholestrol but once in a while its ok.

I normally will stir fry my prawns with a bit of oil first so that when you finally cook them your sambal won't be watery.

All you need for a result like above are:-

2 big onions cut into rings.
4 garlics sliced into strips.
3 tablespoons of cili boh(if you are a cili queen then add more:)
2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
salt/sugar to taste.

Fry 3 tablespoon of oil and stir fry the onions and garlic.
Add in the cili and fry till fragrant before adding the ketchup.
Stir in the fried prawns.
Salt and sugar to taste.

This is my easy or rather lazy style of cooking prawns.

Cheese pasta

Cheese pasta is everyone favourite in the Jellanie family ..... even myself any kind of pasta :)
For today its a very simple and easy way of making pasta.

Boil these pastas and leave to cool and remember when you are cooking them add 2 tablespoon of oil into the pot so that the pasta won't stick together.

I use italian pasta sauce and mushroom is my favourite .... heat some oil in a frying pan and pour in the sauce and if you have asian tastebud you can add a little bit of cili boh. When the sauce are well blend and cooked add some mince beef/chicken or even prawns.

Stir in the boiled pasta and mixed well .....

And a dash of oregano for that lovely italiana aromaaaaaaaa.......

Blend in some shredded cheeese and also garnish some ontop ..... put in microwave for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese ..........

There you are a quick and easy cheese pasta.....sedapppppppppp.
